where the name Neuage came from

Why my name is Neuage?

It began in 1980. I was at an astrological meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The group said they were going to a conference in New Zealand then to Australia. I did not have the money to go with them. I applied for two credit cards and together I was able to buy a ticket to the two conferences. Lots of other stuff happened but eventually I got to the one in Auckland, had a bunch of experiences then on to Sydney. Met a girl, from Adelaide. We did not get along. Three months later she was in the States going to a TM (Transcendental Meditation) thing in NYC. She remembered my name (Adsit then) and rang me, and I said she could stay at my house on the way to NYC. Stuff happened. We ended up driving across America and by Arizona we hated one another. I dropped her off at the San Francisco airport. I went to Hawaii where I thought I had a gig as an on-radio astrologer. It didn’t work out. A month later, the person in Adelaide, I had given her my friend’s phone number in Hawaii, rang me and said, “guess what?”. So, she came to Hawaii. Her visa was for three months. By the time she was seven months pregnant her visa had run out. Hawaii said she could only stay in the USA if she got married. So, we did. I would not change to her Ukrainian name; she would not change to mine. My friend said you think you are such new age people just change your name to new age. We said that it was stupid and dropped the w and became Neuage. I came back with her to Adelaide when Sacha was six months old. We had another child, Leigh. We divorced and a long story short I became a single parent and raised my children from age three & six-months in Australia. The courts gave me custody, and the mother and I joint guardianship. I could not move back to the USA with them. I considered myself a prisoner of Australia. Long story short, we discovered we were not new age people, I have not believed in or followed astrology for more than twenty-years, I have been married to the wonderful Narda for 25 years. She kept her maiden name. I kept Neuage. My ex never changed back to her Ukrainian name. I wrote two books “Leaving Australia” which is about this stuff. It is available in eBook, hardcover and paper on Amazon. And that is how I became Neuage. Thanks for asking.
